thackeray: Aaditya to be face of Shiv Sena expansion outside Maharashtra | India News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday said the party would fight Lok Sabha polls across the country under the leadership of state environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray but Sena insiders pointed out that while CM Uddhav Thackeray would still have the final word in party affairs and be the number one leader, Aaditya would lead the party’s expansion outside Maharashtra to try and establish its national footprint.
Aaditya is expected to be the Sena’s star campaigner in all polls it fights outside the state. Party said he will have more say in the saffron party’s affairs and a much larger leadership role than before as far as Sena’s national expansion plan is concerned, while CM Thackeray who is the Sena president will take the top decisions.
Aaditya, who recently campaigned in Goa and who campaigned for the Sena during last year’s Dadra and Nagar Haveli Lok Sabha bypolls, is also expected to campaign for the UP polls. With CM Thackeray still recovering from a spine surgery, Aaditya has been at the centre of developments in the Sena. While the Lok Sabha polls are scheduled for 2024, Aaditya, Sena insiders said, will lead the Sena’s campaign for the BMC elections which are just a couple of months away and be projected as the party’s modern face.
“The party will rally around Uddhavji, but the baton will be passed to Aaditya for forays outside Maharashtra. The party is looking to pitch Aaditya as Sena’s modern and acceptable face, without the Marathi ‘manoos’ agenda baggage. Sena will contest polls outside Maharashtra under Aaditya’s leadership.
