Helmets for kids riding pilliona must from 2023 | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The transport ministry on Tuesday said that from February 15 next year it will be mandatory for twowheeler riders to ensure children in the age group of nine months to four years going pillion with them wear safety harness and crash helmet. The notified rule will also prohibit driving two-wheelers with children below four years as pillion at more than 40 kmph.
The violation of these rules will attract penalty of Rs 1,000 and suspension of driving licence for three months. TOI on October 26 last year had first reported this government proposal for ensuring safety of children on two-wheelers.
Currently, there is no specific data on how many children below four years died in road crashes in India.
