30-Year-Old Man Arrested for Stalking, Assaulting Ex-Friend in Nagpur

Accused followed the woman after she ended contact, assaulted her in public; arrested the same day under multiple sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

A 30-year-old man has landed in judicial custody after being accused of stalking and molesting a woman he was once acquainted with. The incident unfolded on June 21, near Shahpur Chowk, and left the 26-year-old woman reportedly shaken.

The accused, Jitendra alias Vicky Ramashankar Chaudhary, lives in Babulban, Garoba Maidan, under Lakadganj limits. The woman, who stays in the jurisdiction of Wathoda Police Station, told police that she knew him from a work-related setting. They’d been on talking terms for some time, but things took a turn. She began noticing red flags—controlling behavior, mistrust. Eventually, she decided to cut all ties.

But that wasn’t the end of it.

On Friday evening, as she was returning home from work, Jitendra allegedly followed her on a two-wheeler. He confronted her in public—questioned why she was ignoring him. She tried to walk away. That’s when things escalated. Police say he hurled abuses at her, slapped her, and made vulgar remarks. A disturbing episode that took place right out in the open.

The woman didn’t wait. She approached the Lakadganj police that very day and filed a complaint. Officers acted quickly. Jitendra was arrested within hours and later booked under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)—including Sections 74, 75, 78, 115, 296, 351(3), and 352. These cover stalking, molestation, criminal intimidation, and other offences tied to assault and public harassment.

He’s now in judicial custody, police confirmed. The investigation continues, and authorities say they’re taking the case seriously. It’s another reminder of how personal boundaries, when ignored, can turn into a legal matter fast.
