Woman caught driving on railway tracks in Telangana, halting trains and triggering major safety concerns, probe underway into possible security lapse.
In a shocking incident early Thursday morning, a woman drove her car along the railway tracks between Kondakal Railway Gate and Shankarpalli, Telangana, causing major disruption to train services on the busy route.
As per the railway officials, the woman was first seen driving from Shankarpalli towards Hyderabad — not on the road, but on the railway line itself. Efforts by railway staff to stop her were unsuccessful as she reportedly continued at a high speed. Officials, fearing the worst, halted an oncoming train as a precaution.
Train services on the route, particularly those arriving from Bengaluru to Hyderabad, were affected. The average delay? Around 45 minutes. It took nearly half an hour to bring the situation under control, officials said.
The woman was eventually stopped, and both she and her vehicle were removed from the tracks. By then, rail operations had already taken a hit.
What raised more concern among the staff was the observation that she was holding a non-edible object while driving — adding to the confusion and fear at the scene. Some reports suggest she may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Police were called in immediately. She was taken into custody, and the car was seized. A medical examination is likely to confirm if intoxication played a role.
Railway officials have begun digging into the incident. How did she even get on the tracks? That’s the big question. They’re also checking if there were any gaps in security that made it possible.
The whole thing has thrown the spotlight back on railway safety — or the lack of it. It wasn’t just a delay. A real safety scare, no doubt. Could’ve ended much worse. Thankfully, no injuries. But for folks on that route? It was tense. Weird. Completely out of the blue. Shook people up. Threw the whole schedule into chaos.
