Jamshedpur – Netaji Subhas University’s Institute of Pharmacy recently observed National Nutrition Week, emphasizing the importance of nutrition and nutritional supplements in healthcare.

The week-long program featured various activities, including seminars, quizzes, and nutrition counseling for school children.

Dr. Md. Ashraf Ali, Chief Guest from NSMCH Adityapur, highlighted the nutritional value of healthy food and the disadvantages of canned and fast food. He stressed that pharmacists and doctors are integral to health services.

Professor (Dr.) KK Pradhan of BIT Mesra discussed monitoring food quality and portion size to prevent malnutrition, sharing his experiences in clinical research and drug development.

Other speakers, including Kaushal Kant Verma and Manas Ranjan Nayak, emphasized the importance of optimum diet, nutraceuticals, and nutritional supplements.

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Kumar Brahma welcomed guests and emphasized pharmacy professionals’ contributions to healthcare. Dean (Administration) Prof. Nazim Khan advised adopting locally available food items and proper diets to overcome health disorders.

The program aimed to increase public awareness about nutrition-related problems and educate people about nutrition’s impact on health.

A quiz competition saw Bharat Namta winning first prize, while pharmacy students collected information on food preferences and nutritional habits from school students.

The event was organized under the leadership of Registrar Nagendra Singh and Principal Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Kumar Brahma.
