Chief Executive Members of 10 autonomous councils from the North Eastern states yesterday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and sought his intervention to resolve long pending issue of the autonomous bodies in the region.
The delegation led by the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region of Assam, Pramod Boro, submitted a memorandum to Shah requesting him to table and ensure passage of the Constitution (125th Amendment) Bill, 2019 in Parliament with necessary modifications at the earliest.

Shah has assured that all issues pertaining to the 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill would be resolved within a month, and a committee under Union Minister of State for Home Affairs would be formed to further consult with all concerns regarding the necessary points made by all the 10 Sixth Schedule councils from North East. The Union Home Minister also assured to resolve issues pending from the previous governments. Meanwhile another meeting of the 10 councils will be held at Shillong in Meghalaya on August 10
