Jampuijala, Sepahijala District, Tripura – In a significant move towards peace and development, more than 500 extremists from the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) have surrendered their arms and ammunition, choosing to return to mainstream life. The ceremony, held at Jampuijala under Sepahijala district, was attended by Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, state chief secretary JK Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, and other senior officials.

During the event, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized that the reintegration of former extremists into society would boost development and strengthen the state. He highlighted that 12 peace pacts have been signed with various outfits from northeastern states, with three agreements specifically involving Tripura. These agreements have been instrumental in bringing peace to the region.

The tripartite peace accord, signed on September 4th in New Delhi, involved the central government, Tripura government, NLFT, and ATTF, under the aegis of the Union Home Ministry. The ceremony was presided over by Home Minister Amit Shah.

Chief Minister Dr. Saha expressed optimism that the surrender of such a large number of extremists would pave the way for sustained peace and development in Tripura. He also acknowledged the efforts of the central government in facilitating these agreements, which have significantly contributed to the stability of the region.
