Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on July 26 in India. It is been celebrated to commemorate India’s victory in the Kargil War of 1999. This year is very special for every Indian, as the year 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. It has immense importance in citizen’s hearts. It has been observed to pay tribute to our real heroes, to the bravery of Indian Soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation during 1999.
Kargil War also reminds us of the country’s victory over Pakistan, marking the successful culmination of Operation Vijay. The war took place in May 1999, when Pakistani soldiers and militants crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into India. It was done to occupy strategic high-altitude positions. Therefore, the Indian army launched the Operation Vijay. The Indian army was successful in recapturing the peaks and also in restoring peace by July 26, 1999.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is a reminder of the brave soldier’s sacrifices. It is a moment of national pride and gratitude. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, visited the Kargil War Memorial in Drass, Ladakh. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Kargil War, his presence paid tribute to the brave soldiers who lost their lives in the war.

Along with PM Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and Defence Minister Rajnath Sigh offered their tribute to the soldiers of the Kargil War.
