Jamshedpur, August 29, 2024 – The Sikh community is up in arms against Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film “Emergency”, set to release on September 6, over its alleged depiction of Sikhs as terrorists and use of abusive language.

The Central Gurudwara Management Committee (CGPC) held an emergency meeting to address the issue, where representatives from various Gurudwara Committees and institutions resolved to prevent the film’s screening in East Singhbhum, Jamshedpur.

“We will not allow this film to be screened under any circumstances,” said a CGPC spokesperson. “The film’s content is inflammatory and hurts Sikh sentiments.”

The controversy surrounds a scene depicting Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, head of Damdami Taksal, asking for votes in exchange for Khalistan.

The CGPC has urged the District Collector (DC) to take immediate action and ban the film, warning of protests by the Sikh community.

“Holding Kangana Ranaut, the film’s director, and cinema hall managers responsible for any untoward incidents,” the CGPC stated.

Sikh organizations have condemned the film’s content, labeling it as:

1. Insensitive
2. Inflammatory
3. Hurtful to Sikh sentiments

Demands:

1. Immediate ban on the film
2. Apology from Kangana Ranaut
3. Removal of objectionable content

Stay tuned for updates on the developing situation.
