Tamilnadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has directed the police to conduct a thorough inquiry and bring the perpetrators to justice in the brutal murder of K. Armstrong, State President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). The CM expressed shock and condolences to the bereaved family and party workers, stating that eight persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
Union Minister of State Dr. L. Murugan condemned the incident, blaming the DMK government for its failure to maintain law and order. He pointed out that the attack on a national party’s state president highlights the deterioration of the state’s law and order situation.
The body of the slain leader is currently at the Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital in Chennai, and BSP party workers have been demanding that it be handed over to them for a procession. Leaders across party lines have called for speedy action from the state government.
BSP Chief Mayawati is expected to pay her last respects to Armstrong’s mortal remains tomorrow. The 52-year-old leader was killed by a mob in front of his house in Chennai last night.
