El Fasher, Sudan – At least nine children were killed and 11 others injured in an air raid by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in El Fasher, the capital city of North Darfur State in western Sudan. The attack targeted the Al-Hijra Mosque in the Al-Tijaniya neighborhood, which also housed a voluntary kitchen providing food to displaced individuals.

The resistance committee in El Fasher reported that an RSF drone threw projectiles at the site, resulting in the tragic loss of young lives. The RSF has yet to respond to the incident.

This attack is the latest escalation in the ongoing conflict between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces, which has ravaged the country since April 15, 2023. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the clashes have claimed 16,650 lives since May 10.
