Maharashtra: Four Top NCP Leaders Resign, Dealing a Blow to Ajit Pawar’s Faction
An important update in this regard is that four an important leaders of the NCP including party’s four General secretaries in Maharashtra’s Pimpri Chinchwad left the party and joined hands with Ajit Pawar. Such leaders as Pimpri-Chinchwad unit head Ajit Gavahane, head of Pimpri student wing Yash Sane, and ex-coroprators Rahul Bhosale, Pankaj Bhalekar are expected to shift to the faction headed by Sharad Pawar by the end of the week.
This decision has been made after the Lok Sabha elections where its ally, the NCP which is headed by Ajit Pawar, put up a very weak performance. This rise made many to speculate that some leaders are willing to defect to this camp from the Sharad Pawar faction. Ajit Gavahane, who was forced to resign, was speaking about influencing the NCP to fight for the Bhosari assembly constituency which the BJP’s Mahesh Langde had won twice. The officials though disappointed with the exit of Gavahane have assured that he will stay with the NCP.
In the past, Sharad Pawar had spoken to the effect that he would not work with people with an intention to dilute the organisation but he would like to have committed performers who would not spoil the party’s image. Siding with the ruling Mahayuti, BJP and Shiv Sena, Ajit Pawar’s revolt tore NCP apart leaving the party divided into two. The political progression has exceptionally unfolded in this Indian state and the up-coming assembly elections in Maharashtra look all the more dramatic and intense.
