Jamshedpur: On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, a poetry recitation competition was organized at Center Point Hotel under the joint aegis of Rotary Club Steel City, multilingual literary institution Sahyog, and Udit Vani Foundation. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 42 school children and graduate and B.Ed. students from 10 colleges in Jamshedpur, who recited poems highlighting the importance of Hindi.

The program was inaugurated by Shivani Goyal, President of Rotary Steel City, along with Neha Agarwal, Sudha Goyal (Vice President of Sahyog), Vidya Tiwari, and Shraddha Agarwal, who jointly lit the ceremonial lamp. Dr. Priyanka Singh introduced the judges, emphasizing the importance of preserving the Hindi language in an era where it is often mixed with English.

The judges for the competition were Mrs. Vidya Tiwari, Secretary of Sahyog, and Shraddha Agarwal of Rotary Steel City. Mrs. Shivani Goyal welcomed the guests, noting that September is celebrated as Rotary Literacy Month worldwide. Dr. Juhi Samarpita, founder of Sahyog, expressed her views on the significance of Hindi, highlighting that it is the third most spoken language globally and is taught in 20 countries.

The poetry competition was organized in two categories: school and college. The winners in each category were as follows:

School Category:

  • First Prize
  • Second Prize
  • Third Prize

College Category:

  • First Prize
  • Second Prize
  • Third Prize

Neha Agarwal delivered the vote of thanks, and the program was beautifully conducted by Dr. Anita Sharma. The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Hari Mittal, Anuj Kumar, Jyotsna Asthana, Dr. Asha Gupta, Renu Bala Mishra, Anni Amrita, Pamela Ghosh Dutta, Deepika, Anita Singh, Babli Meera, Rashmi Barla, Jayshree Shivkumar, and Gopeshwar Thakur, along with teachers and principals from various schools.
