BHOPAL, Madhya Pradesh — In a significant step towards revamping higher education, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav presided over a crucial meeting of the Indian Knowledge Tradition Top Committee and the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) Task Force at his residence today. The meeting highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s proactive approach in adopting and excelling in the implementation of NEP.
Chief Minister’s Vision for Higher Education
Addressing the assembly, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized that while the state’s higher education quality is commendable compared to other states, there’s always room for improvement. “We must strive to excel further while preserving the high standards we have set,” he remarked, setting the tone for discussions on educational enhancement.
Multidisciplinary Approach in Action
The meeting revealed impressive statistics on the state’s embrace of the NEP’s multidisciplinary educational framework. Under this policy, approximately 18,000 students from the Arts Faculty have ventured into Commerce and Science, while over 100,000 Commerce students have explored Arts and Science. From the Science Faculty, 11,000 students have integrated subjects from Arts and Commerce into their education, showcasing a broad spectrum of learning.
Innovative Courses Launched
Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a pioneer by introducing several new courses aligned with the NEP. The initiation of the B.Sc. Agriculture course in seven universities and 18 government autonomous colleges marks a step towards skill-based education. Additionally, five universities have launched certificate courses in Aviation, aiming to tap into the growing aviation sector.
Participants and Discussions
Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar, along with Task Force member Atul Kothari, MP Hindi Granth Academy President Ashok Kadel, and other committee members, participated actively in the discussions. The focus was on strategies to maintain educational standards and innovate teaching methodologies.
Chief Minister’s Conclusion
Dr. Yadav concluded the meeting by reaffirming Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to educational excellence. “Our state is not just adopting but leading in the implementation of NEP 2020. We aim to nurture a holistic educational environment that prepares our youth for future challenges,” he stated, highlighting the state’s educational achievements and future goals.
