Jamshedpur, October 24, 2024 – Tata Steel is set to host the 9th edition of the Jamshedpur Half-Marathon on November 24, 2024, with the theme ‘Run for Fitness, Run for Fun!’ The event, which has grown in stature over the years, will now include a challenging Half Marathon distance for the first time, alongside other categories like the Anand Run, a 5-km run, and a 10-km challenge.
This year’s marathon promises a total prize pool of approximately ₹10 lakhs, with the winner of the Half Marathon taking home ₹1 lakh. The marathon not only aims to promote fitness but also serves as a significant sporting event in India, attracting participants from across 18 states last year, with a total of 5,739 runners.
Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services at Tata Steel, emphasized the company’s commitment to sports, stating, “We believe in the transformative power of sports to unite and inspire. This event is a testament to our dedication to fostering a culture of fitness and community engagement.”
In addition to the runs, an Expo will be held on November 22 and 23, offering participants goodie bags, T-shirts, and refreshment boxes. Special discounts are available under the ‘Fit Family’ and ‘Fit Together’ categories, encouraging group participation from families and institutions.
Tata Steel is also focusing on sustainability, implementing waste management strategies during and after the event to minimize environmental impact.
