Knock on for Precautions!! COVID-19 Active Cases Rise to Nearly 4,000; 4 New Deaths Recorded.

COVID-19 cases in India are currently on rise, with number of active cases at 3,961 as of 2nd June, Monday. Currently, according to the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday the highest number of cases recorded in Kerala with 1,435 active cases, followed by Maharashtra and Delhi. In the past 24 hours Four deaths have been reported- one each in Delhi, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.

The surge of COVID-19 cases in India has been seen in past few weeks due to certain factors, which includes a possible decrease in immunity from vaccines administered over a year ago, Complacent public behavior, and emergence of a new variant of COVID-19,” NB.1.8.1” with a higher transmissibility, according to experts and reports. Changes in air quality and weather also contributed to the surge. NB.1.8.1 is a new Covid-19 subvariant which was detected in India. The World Health Organization’s (WHO) has designated this variant as ‘Variant Under Monitoring’- one with significant changes in virus characteristics but its epidemiological impact remains a mystery.

The number of cases recorded in Capital Delhi is 483, and 506 cases has been recorded in Maharashtra. In past 10 days Capital Delhi recorded three deaths due to Covid-19. A 22-year-old female patient suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis and bilateral lower respiratory tract infection, died after she tested positive for Covid-19, as per the update on the Union Health Ministry’s dashboard on Monday. Earlier, two patients who tested positive for Covid-19 had died – a 60-year-old woman and a 71-year-old Man. However, this is the first such case in which a young patient has died. The experts have urged people not to panic.

Karnataka recorded 87 Covid-19 cases on Monday as per the bulletin issued by the health department. Earlier, Karnataka’s Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao told PTI Videos that there was no need for panic, as the government is ready for any eventuality.

“This Covid has got mild infections, not very serious impact. But we are alert, and we have ensured that we are ready for any eventuality. All our infrastructure – oxygen, beds, ventilators – all of them are being updated and ensured that in any emergency, we should have all kinds of provisions. So, that way, we are ready.” – says Karnataka’s Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.
