He Waited for Death – Then Took Four Innocent Lives with Him

A labourer, Manoj Mehto from Bihar committed suicide with his four children, youngest aged three and the oldest nine after being crushed by an express train on Tuesday afternoon at Ballabhgarh in Faridabad.

A 36-year-old man form Bihar, currently a resident near Subhash Colony left his home with his four children by telling his wife, Priya that he is taking the kids to a nearby park to play but, instead taking them to a park he went to a railway track and sat under Elson Chowk Flyover for about an hour, waiting for the train to arrive. He also bought chips and cola for the children while waiting.

Witnesses said children were pleading their father to let go as they saw Golden Temple Express approaching them but, he refused and forced them to stay there with him.

The reason behind the incident is still a mystery. The incident was reported by the loco pilot of the train coming from Mumbai to the authorities at Ballabhgarh station. Police identified Manoj Mehto through his Aadhaar card and found a chit in his pocket with his wife’s no. scribbled on it, indicating his actions were preplanned.

Government Railway Police (GRP)official said, “earlier we received information that a woman and her children had jumped Infront of the train. But when we arrived at the incident spot, we discovered that a father and his sons were run over on the track,” as they informed the wife about the incident, she proclaimed that they went to the nearest park to play, but after she was called to the spot, she fainted on seeing their bodies.

Police said they were unsure about the reason behind taking such step, although he had a trouble marriage, but it wasn’t clear whether that had anything to do with the cause. “They are prioritizing on finding the mental state of Manoj and circumstances that led him to take such step,” said a police officer.
