Awareness Camp on New Tribal Scheme Held in Champhai, Mizoram

A special awareness and benefit saturation camp under the central government’s newly launched tribal development initiative was held today at the Khawbung Community Hall in Mizoram’s Champhai district. The event was held under the larger banner of the “Dharti Aaba Abhiyan,” a nationwide effort aimed at making government schemes more accessible to tribal communities.

The campaign, led by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, is being held from June 15 to 30 with the goal of reaching tribal communities in close to 64,000 villages spread across 549 districts. At the Khawbung camp, local residents turned out in good numbers. Officials from different government departments were on hand throughout the day, helping residents understand available schemes, answering their questions, and resolving issues then and there.

During the event, Khawbung Block Development Officer Lalchhandami Pachuau took a moment to thank everyone who showed up. She said efforts like this matter a lot, especially in places that are far from administrative centres, where people don’t always have the means or access to get the help they’re entitled to.

“This effort is an important step toward closing the gap between remote tribal areas and the government services meant for them,” she said.Pachuau also highlighted the vast reach of the campaign, which is set to benefit more than 5 crore tribal citizens across the country.

At the camp, local residents received help with a variety of government services and welfare schemes. Officials assisted people in applying for important documents such as Aadhaar cards, ration cards, and certificates for domicile and tribal identity. Health-related benefits were also explained in detail, including how to get an Ayushman Bharat card, where to go for regular vaccinations, and who is eligible for different types of pensions and insurance schemes.

The main goal was to help everyone clearly understand what benefits they were eligible for and how to actually get them—especially those who hadn’t had that opportunity before.

The camp also put a strong emphasis on financial support schemes. People were given simple, clear explanations about programs like the Kisan Credit Card, PM-KISAN, Mudra loans, and the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. At the camp, residents got clear guidance on government schemes and how to access them. Help was provided for documents like Aadhaar and ration cards, along with info on health benefits and pensions. Financial aid schemes such as PM-KISAN and Mudra loans were also explained.

What set the camp apart was its open, hands-on approach. People asked questions, shared concerns, and got real help—many even had their issues sorted out right then and there. It turned the event into something genuinely helpful, not just another official gathering.

People weren’t just passive listeners—they were encouraged to speak up about their concerns. Many got help on the spot. Throughout the day, the mood stayed focused and collaborative, with officials and attendees working together to make sure that people got the support they needed and didn’t leave empty-handed.
