National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) organized a Pre-International Yoga Day event at the 13th Battalion campus in Sui, Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir to promote health, fitness, and mindfulness. The event got huge participation from NDRF personnel as around 50 to 55 personnel took part in it.
The event was organized to promote the importance of yoga but got famous for another reason as a stray dog who has been under the care of NDRF and trained by NDRF for past 2 years, performed all the yoga asanas smoothly alongside the personnel. He not only performed simple asanas but also stretching and all other complex poses that required balance.
The performance not only served as entertainment but also worked as a beacon of inspiration for all the NDRF participants which in a subtle way promoted a message that “if a dog can do yoga, why can’t we?” They also shared a message that we must incorporate yoga into everyday life rather than limiting it to an annual formality.
An inspector of 13th Battalion, Munshi Ram, while sharing his views on this event said, “Today’s special yoga session was organized to mark the upcoming International Yoga Day. Our trained stray dog has been practicing with us for years and continues to amaze everyone. His involvement is proof that yoga is truly for everyone—even animals. We hope this encourages people to make yoga a daily practice for better physical and mental health.”
The event marked the dedication and discipline of NDRF personnel and delivered a powerful message on the importance of yoga in our daily life.
