HYC Protests Against Upcoming Cow Protection Rally in Shillong

Shillong, September 12: The Hynniewtrep Youths’ Council (HYC) has issued a stern warning to the Meghalaya Government, threatening to organize a ‘beef-eating festival’ if permission is granted for an upcoming rally led by Bramachari Mukundanand Ji Maharaj. The rally, organized by a representative of Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati Ji Maharaj, aims to demand that cows be declared the “Mother of the Nation” and calls for an immediate ban on cow slaughter.

The proposed rally has sparked controversy and strong reactions from various groups. The HYC, in particular, has voiced its opposition, claiming that the rally’s objectives are provocative and could lead to communal tensions.

As news of the press conference spread, HYC members, led by President Roy Kupar Synrem, gathered outside the Shillong Press Club. They displayed placards in protest against the cow vigilante group, expressing their discontent and opposition to the rally’s agenda.

The HYC’s threat to hold a ‘beef-eating festival’ is seen as a direct challenge to the rally’s message and a statement against what they perceive as an imposition of certain beliefs on the diverse population of Meghalaya. The situation remains tense as both sides prepare for the upcoming events.

The Meghalaya Government has yet to respond to the HYC’s warning or make a decision regarding the rally’s permission. The unfolding events are being closely watched by the public and various stakeholders, as the potential for conflict looms.
