Datia, October 16, 2024 – In a groundbreaking move prioritizing the safety of women, Datia District Hospital cum Medical College has introduced the ‘Pink Alarm’ system, marking a significant step towards creating a secure environment for female doctors and nursing staff. This initiative, spearheaded under the guidance of Collector Shri Sandeep Kumar Makin, is the first of its kind in any district hospital across the state.
The Pink Alarms have been strategically placed at seven locations across three buildings within the hospital premises. The purpose of this innovative system is to provide immediate assistance to any woman who feels threatened or unsafe while on duty. Upon activation, the alarm triggers a siren on the roof of the building, alerting security personnel. Additionally, the system is designed to notify guards and police officers stationed within the hospital, who are expected to reach the alarm’s location within five minutes.
Civil Surgeon cum Hospital Superintendent Dr. K.C. Rathore highlighted the installation of these alarms in critical areas including the maternity ward, trauma center, and each of the three floors in the new Outpatient Department (OPD) block. The system’s effective range covers up to two kilometers, ensuring comprehensive security coverage across the hospital campus.
Dr. Rathore emphasized, “This initiative is not just about security; it’s about empowerment. We want our female staff to feel confident and secure while performing their duties.”
The hospital administration, in collaboration with local police, plans to conduct a mock drill in the near future to test the efficiency and response time of this new system, ensuring that it operates flawlessly when needed.
This pioneering step by Datia District Hospital sets a precedent for other healthcare institutions in enhancing workplace safety for women, potentially influencing similar initiatives statewide.
