Jamshedpur, 12 September 2024 – The Central Monitoring Team of the Government of India has extended the Leprosy Patient Search Campaign-2024 for an additional ten days, from 18th September to 28th September 2024. This decision was made following an inspection by the team, which found the campaign progressing at a slow pace.

Monitoring and Inspection

Dr. Tapas Bhattacharya and Dr. Deepak Kumar from the Government of India, along with State Leprosy Prevention Officer Dr. Anil Kumar, were honored by District Leprosy Prevention Officers Dr. Mrityunjay Dhaudiya and District Leprosy Consultant Dr. Rajiv Lochan Mahato. The team inspected various locations, including Matihana, Kunwarda, Chitreshwar, Pauda, and Kumirmudi village, and noted several areas for improvement, including the accuracy of wall writings.

Campaign Extension

Dr. Anil Kumar emphasized the need for the survey team and supervisors to adhere to LCDC guidelines and ordered the extension of the campaign. He directed all Civil Surgeons and District Leprosy Prevention Officers to expedite their efforts to meet the campaign’s objectives.

Public Welfare Schemes

Dr. Mrityunjay Dhaudia highlighted the public welfare schemes for leprosy patients, noting that 369 new leprosy patients were identified in the previous year’s campaign, all of whom received free MDT. He assured the central team that the extended campaign period would be utilized effectively to achieve the set targets.

Commitment to Success

Dr. Dhaudia expressed confidence in meeting the campaign’s goals within the extended timeframe, ensuring comprehensive coverage and support for leprosy patients in the district.
