Assam to host G-20 Sustainable Financial Working Group meeting

Assam will host the G-20 Sustainable Financial Working Group meeting under the chairmanship of India. This meeting will start in Guwahati from Thursday. The theme of the meeting is One Earth, One Family, One Future and its motto is Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. 94 representatives of G-20 member countries, guest countries and various international organizations will participate in this meeting to be held on 2 and 3 February. Youth-20 preparatory meeting will also be held in Guwahati on February 7 and 8, in which 250 delegates will participate. 400 students from various academic institutions of Assam will also attend the meeting. This is the first of five meetings on the Y-20 theme to be held across the country in connection with the preparations for the Y-20 Summit to be held in August 2023. The meeting will focus on topics related to peace building and problem solving, future of industrial work, climate change and disaster risk reduction, role of youth in democracy and governance, health and sports.

The Assam government has completed its preparations to welcome foreign delegates to the state. During this, arrangements have been made for the delegates to visit Kaziranga National Park, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, Gorbhanga Reserve Forest, Brahmaputra River Islands and Heritage Center to promote the rich bio-diversity and socio-cultural heritage on the international platform Could The Working Group on Long-Term Finance is an important work area within the G-20. Its objective is to provide long-term finance for global growth and stability, and to promote greener, more resilient and inclusive societies and economies. The group is charged with identifying the institutional and market barriers to long-term finance. At the same time, it is also to contribute towards developing options to deal with these obstacles and improving the international financial system to achieve the objectives of the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement.
