Tragedy Strikes Uttar Pradesh: 116 Killed, 18 Injured in Stampede at Religious Congregation
A devastating stampede at a religious gathering in Ratibhanpur Mughalgarhi village, Hathras district, Uttar Pradesh, has claimed the lives of 116 people, with 18 others seriously injured. The incident occurred during a ‘satsang’ event of Bhole Baba, where a large crowd had gathered.
According to Aligarh Division Commissioner Chaitra B, permission had been granted for the program, and an investigation team has been formed to probe the cause of the accident. The team, led by ADG, Agra, and Commissioner, Aligarh, has been instructed to submit a report within 24 hours.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his condolences and is in constant touch with ministers and officials deployed at the accident site. He will visit Hathras tomorrow to assess the situation. The state government has announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Prime Minister Modi has also announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
