PM Modi Reiterates Efforts to Ease Situation in Manipur, Slams Congress in Rajya Sabha
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, responding to the Motion of Thanks on President Droupadi Murmu’s address. He emphasized the government’s continuous efforts to ease the situation in Manipur, where Central and State Governments are engaging with stakeholders for peace and cordiality.
Highlighting the downward trajectory of violence incidents in Manipur, PM Modi informed the House that schools, colleges, offices, and institutions are functioning normally. He also expressed concern about the current flood situation in Manipur, with two NDRF companies deployed for relief work.
PM Modi criticized the Congress, calling them the biggest opponent of the constitution and accusing them of insulting former President Ram Nath Kovind and President Droupadi Murmu. He emphasized the importance of the constitution and its spirit, lauding Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s contribution.
Outlining the NDA government’s vision for its third term, PM Modi prioritized fighting poverty, enhancing welfare schemes, and making India the third-largest economy globally. He highlighted achievements like the PM Kisan Samman Yojana and the country’s economic growth despite the pandemic.
The opposition parties, including Congress, DMK, TMC, AAP, RJD, and Left, created a ruckus and walked out of the House during PM Modi’s statement, drawing criticism from the Chairman and the Prime Minister.
Earlier, Rwngwra Narzary of UPP(L) praised PM Modi’s Act East Policy for bringing peace and development to the North East region. The House paid tribute to the victims of the Hathras tragedy, with Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge suggesting a law to prevent such incidents.
