Centre Lifts 58-Year-Old Ban on Government Employees Participating in RSS Activities

Earlier the Rao government in 1993 had lifted the ban on government employee joining the RSS though the ban was imposed during the Initial years of Indira Gandhi’s rule in November 1966. Lately, government employees have been given permission to be active members of the RSS, which is definitely a policy change.

The BJP IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya congratulated and said that the unconstitutional order of June 5, 1964, has been withdrawn by the Modi government. Many of the state governments had already lifted such prohibitions regarding the government employees associated with the RSS; the examples were Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
