SDM Shubhra Rani Cracks Down on Illegal Lottery Racket in Chandil: Jharkhand
Jagannath Chatterjee, Chandil : In a bold move, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Shubhra Rani raided a rented house near Chandil High School and caught four individuals red-handed while operating an illegal lottery. The raid yielded seizure of illegal lottery materials, cash, and account registers.

The action was taken under the Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998, which prohibits unauthorized lottery activities. SDM Rani stated that continuous information about the illegal lottery had been received, prompting the raid.
Simultaneously, Neemdih police, under the new IPS Saraikela SP, caught three individuals selling illegal lottery near Chandil railway station. Police Station In-Charge Tanjil Khan confirmed the arrests.
The crackdown has sent a strong message to illegal traders, with SDM Rani assuring continuous action against such activities. Villagers have praised the SDM’s efforts, citing the negative impact of illegal lotteries on families.
The investigation is ongoing, with Chandil police exploring leads on other individuals involved in the racket.
