Israel Launches Deadly Strike on Hezbollah Stronghold in Beirut

Israel has launched a pin-point raid on a Hezbollah red zone in Beirut and eliminated one persons and inflicting several injuries. The target was Fuad Shukr, heading the ‘Islamic Resistance Party, ‘ Hezbollah: Israel accused Shukr of orchestrating a rocket strike on the Golan Heights that killed 12 people most of whom were students.

Regarding the air strike the Israel military has stated it to be a targeted killing operation which was intelligence-led and was executed by using fighter jets. Nevertheless, as to whether Shukr was in fact killed in the act, security sources in Beirut claimed the mastermind of the act was not in the said building at the time.

Even though it was an Hezbollah against Israel operation, Hezbollah has sought to distance itself from the attack in Golan Heights while it Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati referring to the Israeli attack as a blatant aggression that is criminal under international law.

Hezbollah has ‘crossed the red line,’ Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said, over the attack on the Israeli military positions in the Golan Heights though it remains uncertain how the incidents will develop in the future.
