Jamshedpur, August 7, 2024: Coming down heavily on the Jharkhand government and aggressively supporting the indefinite statewide strike of the Jharkhand Sub-Secretariat Employees Union (Collectorate Cadre) which began on August 3, 2024, the Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU), Jharkhand, State Committee said that it would not return to work until their demands are met. The employees are expecting a logical and employee favorable settlement of their pending demands for quite long period.
The CITU has asked the state government to solve the problems; restructuring of pay scales, new post formation, less duration for promotion and regularization of the contractual employees. It has also called on trade unions, democratic organization and the whole public to support the strike.
In today’s letter to the Chief Minister, While urging her to open negotiations for having the strike lifted in the public interest, CITU General Secretary, Vishwajit Deb has claimed that the state was paralysed due to the employees’ organisation’s strike.
The said strike had relevance to the proper functioning of several offices that fall under the Collectorate and therefore, the employees and the public at large whose operation was interfered with by the said strike. Federation has been very sensitive towards non-settlement of the demands of the employees and has called for early settlement of that issue.
