On August 9, 2024, the World Tribal Day was celebrated at Bistupur Gopal Maidan in Jamshedpur, where tribals gathered to assert their natural and constitutional rights over water, forest, land, and minerals in their area. The event emphasized the importance of tribal collective leadership in social, cultural, economic, and political movements.

The tribals declared that they would protect and develop their existence and identity based on their social and cultural values. They also stressed that public decision-making is crucial for the tribal society to remain intact in the face of change.

The event highlighted the need for a tribal displacement-free development model, starting from the Gram Sabha and spreading throughout society, with full care taken for the environment. The provision of the Fifth Schedule in the Indian Constitution was cited as a dream for indigenous society within larger Indian society and tribal nationalism within great India.

Leaders present at the event, including Josai Mardi, Inder Hembram, Hemendra Yashada, Harimohan Tudu, and others, addressed the public meeting. They emphasized the importance of recognizing tribals as a special nationality, rather than being trapped in the Indian caste system.
