A shocking case of sexual abuse of a minor has come to light in Jamshedpur, where a 3.5-year-old girl was allegedly abused by her school van driver, Jayshree Tiwari. The incident was reported to the Mango Police Station on August 10, 2024, and the information was immediately informed to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).
Taking swift and decisive action, the SSP constituted a team and directed them to take all necessary Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) actions in this serious case and arrest the accused. The team, led by Sub Inspector cum Station Incharge of Mango Police Station, and comprising Sub Inspectors Amir Hamza, Vivek Pandit, Sunil Chaudhary, Shashi Kant, Mahendra Kumar, and Parvan Sah, arrested Jayshree Tiwari and seized the school van used in the crime.

The accused has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, which provides for severe punishment for sexual offences against children. The POCSO Act, 2012, is a special law enacted to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
In this case, the accused has been charged with penetrative sexual assault, which carries a punishment of imprisonment for a minimum of seven years and a maximum of life imprisonment.
The swift action taken by the SSP and the police team in this case is commendable, and it sends a strong message that sexual abuse of children will not be tolerated.
