Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday following her disqualification from the Paris Olympics. Phogat had reached the final of the Women’s 50kg event but was disqualified for being 100 grams overweight during the second weigh-in on the day of her gold-medal match.

Her return was marked by a heavy security presence. Phogat had remained in Paris to appeal for a joint silver with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but her appeal was dismissed on Wednesday. Gagan Narang, the chief de mission of the Indian contingent in Paris and London Olympics bronze medal-winning shooter, praised Phogat as a champion, sharing a photo with her at the Paris airporton (X) before both flew to Delhi.
She came as a champion on day 1 into the games village and she will always remain our champion .
