A complaint was filed with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) yesterday against 27 people, including former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former ministers Obaidul Quader, Rashid Khan Menon and Hasanul Haque Inu, who are accused of alleged genocide and crimes against humanity. Other key accused in the complaints are Anwar Hossain Monju, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Anisul Haque, Hasan Mahmud, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Mohammad Ali Arafat, Kamal Ahmed Majumder and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdullah Al Mamun.
Mohammad Abul Hasan, father of Shahriar Hasan Alvi, who was shot dead during the recent anti-discrimination student movement, has filed a complaint with the ICT investigating agency against 500 unidentified people, including Sheikh Hasina and her 27 companions. The plaintiff submitted cuttings of various newspapers and other documents in his complaint. They face charges of genocide and crimes against humanity under sections 3(2), 4(1)(2) of the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973.
