Orientation Program ‘Deeksharambh’ to Welcome New Students

Gurugram, August 22, 2024 – K.R. Mangalam University (KRMU) is set to commence its new academic session with an orientation program, ‘Deeksharambh,’ on August 24, 2024. The event will be graced by Shri Suresh P. Prabhu, Former Railway Minister, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests include Mr. Diwakar Payal, Head of Sales and Marketing at Ambuja and ACC Cement, Prof. Victor Gambhir, Vice-Chancellor of JECRC University, Jaipur, and Mrs. Sonal Goel, IAS, Secretary, Government of Tripura. The program will be hosted by Prof. Dinesh Singh, Chancellor of KRMU.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Raghuveer Singh, announced during a press conference that a five-day induction program for new students will follow from August 27 to August 31, 2024. He emphasized that ‘Deeksharambh’ aims to introduce students to various aspects of the university, which operates on the principles of ‘Learn to Earn and Learn to Live’. This approach is designed to provide employment-oriented education to prepare students for their respective industries.

Dr. Rahul Sharma, Registrar of KRMU, highlighted that the university awarded scholarships worth ₹11 crores last session, which has been increased to ₹15 crores this session. These scholarships are based on academic merit. Dr. Tanya Gupta, Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), mentioned the university’s initiative to establish a museum focused on Indian philosophy, culture, and values, allowing students to engage with the Indian knowledge system alongside modern education.

Prof. Mehraj Mir (Motilal Nehru Chair) noted that KRMU showcases Indian diversity, a feature rarely seen in other universities. He added that the university is committed to contributing towards the goal of a Developed India 2047, as envisioned by the Honorable Prime Minister.

The press conference was organized by the university’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Established in 2013, K.R. Mangalam University spans 26 acres and offers 71 undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various faculties, including Journalism, Agricultural Science, Architecture, Engineering, Management, Allied Science, and Law.
