Mumbai, August 23, 2024 – Renowned Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee, along with his wife Shabana Raza Bajpayee, has sold their luxurious apartment in the upscale Mahalaxmi neighborhood of South Mumbai for Rs 9 crore. The transaction was confirmed through documents reviewed by the real estate consultancy platform Square Yards.
Property Details
The apartment, located in the Minerva residential tower, was purchased by the couple in 2013 for Rs 6.40 crore. The tower, developed by Lokhandwala Kataria Constructions, spans a two-acre land parcel and comprises 362 units. The sold apartment boasts a carpet area of 1,247 sq ft (116 sq meters) and includes two car parking spaces covering a total of 240 sq ft (22 sq meters).
Investment in Commercial Real Estate
Manoj Bajpayee, known for his preference for an upper middle-class lifestyle, is also an active investor in commercial real estate. Last year, the actor and his wife invested Rs 31 crore in four office units on the 12th floor of the Signature building in Oshiwara. This transaction, documented by Floortap.com, included a stamp duty payment of Rs 1.86 crore. Other Bollywood celebrities, such as Amitabh Bachchan, Kartik Aaryan, Sara Ali Khan, and Ajay Devgn-Kajol, have also invested in the same project.
Lifestyle and Personal Choices
In a candid interview with RealHit, Manoj Bajpayee discussed his lifestyle choices and financial philosophy. Despite his success in Bollywood, the actor emphasized the importance of living a comfortable and dignified life without excessive greed. “You need to have enough money for medical expenses and for your children’s education. You need to be able to live a comfortable, dignified life, where you don’t have to borrow money from anybody. That’s it. Otherwise, there’s no limit. The limit is Ambani. There are lots of rich people in the world, and I cannot become like them through acting. You have to set your own limits, and rein in your greed,” he said.
Bajpayee also revealed his preference for traveling in modest cars to stay grounded. “We live a middle-class life. And we are proud of it. But here’s what happens, when you make a name for yourself, luxuries follow. I don’t have to ask for them. But at the end of the day, we prefer our upper middle-class life, because that’s where the peace lies. You have to choose between greed and peace, and we choose peace… I have a big car and a cheap, small car. I prefer driving the small car whenever we’re going out together or I’m going to buy groceries,” he added.
Current Residence
The actor currently resides in a luxurious apartment in Oberoi Towers, Lokhandwala, Andheri, valued at approximately Rs 10 crore. The property, purchased in 2007, was designed by his wife Shabana Raza Bajpayee. The apartment features a combination of stone and wood flooring, a sofa with silver legs, and is adorned with paintings by Mauritian artists Vaco Baissac and Yves David, as well as Indian artist Chintan Upadhyay. The house includes a well-stocked library, a modern kitchen with a minimalist theme, a small temple near the entrance, a trophy display area, and a den room with semicircular seating, a projector, and a mini multiplex.
