Jamshedpur: Former MP and senior Congress leader Dr. Ajay Kumar has lambasted the BJP for its hypocrisy in the Bhuiyandih case, where the party had complained to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) against illegal encroachments, but is now pretending to show sympathy towards the affected residents.
BJP’s Complaint to NGT: A Move to Gain Power
Dr. Ajay Kumar alleged that the BJP’s complaint to the NGT was a move to gain power and political mileage, rather than a genuine concern for the people. He said that the BJP leaders, who talk about policy and principle, have stooped to a new low for their power and political gain.
NGT Case: A Timeline of Events
The NGT case pertains to illegal encroachments in Kalyannagar, Indira Nagar, and the riverside of Bhuiyandih. The then Union Minister of Tribal Affairs and senior Jharkhand leader Arjun Munda had complained to the NGT on August 30, 2023. The matter was accepted by the NGT through application number 567/2023 and later transferred to the Kolkata Bench, where it was renumbered as 145/2023/EZ.

BJP’s Cheating Exposed: Dr. Ajay Kumar
Dr. Ajay Kumar accused the BJP of cheating the people of Jamshedpur from the very beginning. He said that the party’s latest move to file a complaint in the NGT is a classic example of its hypocrisy.
Saryu Rai’s Role: A BJP Leader’s Desperation
Dr. Ajay Kumar also targeted Saryu Rai, a BJP leader, for his role in the case. He said that Rai has not done any work regarding civic amenities in the settlements in the last five years, forcing the people to live a hellish life.
Congress Leader’s Assurance
Dr. Ajay Kumar assured the residents of Bhuiyandih that the Congress party will not let their houses be demolished. He said that his lawyer is keeping a close watch on the matter in NGT and that the Jharkhand government has got time to present its side in NGT on September 2.
