In a remarkable feat, a 16-member team of the Indian Navy successfully retrieved a trainee aircraft from the 40 feet deep waters of Chandil Dam in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Monday night. The operation, which began at 10 am, took around 13.5 hours to complete, with the team facing challenging conditions, including heavy rainfall.

The trainee aircraft, belonging to Alchemist Aviation, had submerged in the dam on the seventh day, prompting a massive rescue operation. The Navy team, aided by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), other teams, and local people, worked tirelessly to retrieve the aircraft.
Using a balloon with a capacity of 800 kg, the team lifted the aircraft from the lower level of the dam and covered a distance of 14 km to bring it to the shore. The plane was then loaded onto a truck and transported to Sonari Airport by road.
The district administration and Navy team were fully active throughout the operation, which was closely monitored by the media. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) will now investigate the incident.
