Jamshedpur, August 27, 2024 – Tata Steel celebrated the 165th Birth Anniversary of Dorabji Tata, a pioneering industrialist and philanthropist, with a homage ceremony at Dorabji Tata Park in Jamshedpur. The event was attended by senior officials of Tata Steel and other group companies, office bearers of Tata Workers’ Union, and eminent citizens of Jamshedpur.

Chaitanya Bhanu, Vice President (Operations), Tata Steel Jamshedpur, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Dr. T Mukherjee, former Deputy Managing Director (Steel), Tata Steel, and Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President, Tata Workers’ Union, were present as Special Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively.
In his speech, Chaitanya Bhanu highlighted Dorabji Tata’s significant contributions to India’s industrialization journey and his commitment to the nation’s all-round growth. He also mentioned how Dorabji Tata and his wife, Meherbai Tata, pledged their entire belongings to resurrect Tata Steel during difficult times.

Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President, Tata Workers’ Union, spoke about Sir Dorabji Tata’s understanding of the plight of laborers and his role in nurturing the Union. He also emphasized Sir Dorabji Tata’s passion for sports and his efforts to promote India’s participation in the Olympics.
