Jamshedpur, August 30, 2024 – The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a meeting today to oppose the Jharkhand Government’s proposed Market Committee Fee. This fee would affect food grain traders and increase prices for consumers.

Why Are Traders Protesting?

The proposed fee would:

1. Increase prices for consumers
2. Promote corruption and inspector raj
3. Burden food grain traders

What Did Chamber President Vijay Anand Moonka Say?

“We will not tolerate this,” Moonka said. “Singhbhum Chamber will strongly oppose the fee. We successfully protested this fee in the past, and we will do it again.”

Traders from across Jharkhand attended, including:

1. Deepak Bhalotia, Vyapar Mandal President
2. Anil Modi, Singhbhum Chamber Vice President
3. Prem Agarwal, Saraikela Chamber President

The Agriculture Minister has called a meeting with traders on September 4. Traders will attend wearing black badges to protest the fee.

Background

The Jharkhand Government previously tried to implement this fee, but traders successfully protested, and it was withdrawn. Now, the government is reconsidering the fee.
