Pioneering Initiatives Aim to Foster Ethical, Trustworthy AI Development in India
New Delhi, October 16, 2024 – In a significant push towards responsible artificial intelligence, the IndiaAI Mission, under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, has selected eight innovative projects in response to an Expression of Interest (EoI) under its Safe and Trusted AI Pillar. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to embedding robust safeguards into AI technologies to ensure they are developed and deployed ethically and transparently.

The selected projects span a variety of critical themes essential for the ethical advancement of AI. These include:
The Ministry reported an overwhelming response to the EoI, with over 2,000 proposals submitted from a diverse group including academic institutions, startups, research bodies, and civil society organizations. After a meticulous technical evaluation, the eight projects were chosen for their potential to significantly contribute to the responsible use of AI.
