New Delhi: As the country gears up for the festive fervor of Diwali and Chhath Puja, Northern Railway has announced the operation of 195 additional special train trips. This initiative, starting today and continuing until November 7, aims to facilitate the travel of millions heading towards the eastern regions of India for celebrations with their families.
Special Trains for Festive Travelers:
The special trains will commence their journeys from New Delhi and Anand Vihar Terminus, two of the busiest railway stations in the capital, targeting destinations primarily in Eastern India. This strategic deployment of trains is poised to cater to the surge in passenger traffic expected during the holiday season.
Enhanced Capacity for Comfortable Travel:
Northern Railway’s General Manager, Ashok Kumar Verma, in an interview with Akashvani News, highlighted that these additional trains will provide over 170,000 extra seats, significantly alleviating the pressure on regular services. Moreover, an addition of approximately 54,000 seats for those traveling in the unreserved category underscores the railway’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility during peak times.
Improved Passenger Amenities:
To manage the influx of passengers efficiently, special waiting areas at New Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations will be designated. These areas will offer passengers a comfortable space to relax post-ticket purchases. Mr. Verma also specified that all special trains departing from New Delhi Railway Station will use platform number 16, streamlining embarkation and improving passenger flow.
Commitment to Passenger Convenience:
This move by Northern Railway not only reflects its understanding of the importance of these festivals but also its dedication to enhancing passenger experience during the festive rush. By providing extra seating and specific facilities, Northern Railway is ensuring that travelers can focus on the joy of festivity rather than the stress of travel.
The initiative by Northern Railway is a commendable effort towards ensuring smooth travel operations during one of the busiest periods of the year, reinforcing the railway network’s role as the lifeline of connectivity across the nation.
