Police Arrest Final Accused in Advocate Kanishk Mehrotra Murder Case After Encounter

In Hardoi, the last accused, shooter and conspirator of Advocate Kanishk Mehrotra murder case and one with a reward of Rs. 25000 on his head, has been arrested by the police after an encounter late on Saturday night. After firing at the police, the accused broke his leg while fleeing and fell down. Also, a policeman was injured in the firing between the police and the criminal. After which the arrested accused and the injured policeman were brought to the medical college for treatment. A pistol and a cartridge have also been recovered from him.

Due to the two absconding accused, the advocates were on a 15-day strike from August 13, it is being estimated that now after the arrest of all the accused, the advocates will withdraw their strike. Advocate Kanishk Mehrotra was shot dead by two youths who came to his office inside his house near Cinema Square on July 30, posing as clients.

Police arrested the main shooters Ram Sevak, Rajveer and Neeraj after an encounter. Conspirators Adityabhan Singh, Bire Yadav, Nripendra Tripathi and Shikhar Gupta were also arrested. Police was searching for Ramu Mahwat who arranged the meeting of Ram Sevak, who shot the advocate, with the conspirators. A reward of Rs 25,000 was also announced on him. Additional Superintendent of Police East Nripendra said that on Saturday night, information was received from an informer that Ramu Mahwat was present near the under-construction bypass near Radhepurwa. On this, the police team surrounded him. Ramu opened fire on seeing the police and started running. In the retaliatory firing, Ramu got injured when the police shot him in the leg. Police arrested him and admitted him to the medical college. 17 cases are already registered against the arrested accused, and he also played an important role in arranging the shooter by taking a contract.
