Indian Shuttlers Advance in Canada Open

Indian badminton players have made a strong start at the Canada Open, with several players advancing to the next rounds. Priyanshu Rajawat, the eighth seed, defeated Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke in the men’s singles opening round. Anupama Upadhyaya and Tanya Hemanth also won their women’s singles matches, reaching the round of 16.

In mixed doubles, the pair of Rohan Kapoor and Shivani Ruthvika Gadde defeated compatriots Tarun Kona and Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli to enter the pre-quarterfinals. However, S. Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian and Ayush Shetty lost their men’s singles matches.

Today, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will face Denmark’s Alyssa Tirtosentono and Natasja P. Anthonisen in the women’s doubles round of 16, while Sai Pratheek K. and Krishna Prasad Garaga will take on Chinese Taipei’s Lin Bing Wei and Su Ching Heng in the men’s doubles round of 16.
