Kejriwal Challenges Delhi High Court Order in Supreme Court, Seeks Protection from Arrest
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court order pertaining to his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the excise policy scam. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi today mentioned the matter before the Chief Justice of India for urgent listing of the matter. In response, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that a date for hearing will be announced after examining the e-mail request. The Supreme Court had earlier granted bail to Kejriwal in the money laundering case related to the scam filed by the Enforcement Directorate.

Earlier on August 5, the Delhi High Court had termed Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest as valid. The court said that there was no malice in his arrest by the CBI. On June 26, Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI while he was already in judicial custody in a money laundering case being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate.
