Jamshedpur: Former MP and senior Congress leader Dr. Ajay Kumar has praised the India Alliance government of Jharkhand for its numerous public welfare schemes aimed at improving the lives of farmers, laborers, women, and youth.
Increased Minimum Wages for Laborers
Dr. Kumar highlighted that during the BJP rule from 2014 to 2019, the minimum wages for laborers were not increased, leaving them to struggle with rising inflation. In contrast, the Hemant Soren-led government has increased the minimum wage for skilled laborers from ₹486.84 to ₹700, significantly enhancing their standard of living.
Financial Empowerment for Women
To empower women financially, the Hemant government has introduced the Maiya Samman Yojana, under which women aged 21 to 50 will receive ₹1,000 per month. The first installment is set to be disbursed on Rakshabandhan, August 19. This scheme aims to provide financial stability and independence to women across the state.
Relief Measures for Farmers
The government has also waived loans up to ₹2 lakhs for farmers and issued directives to ensure timely and affordable access to seeds and fertilizers. These measures are designed to alleviate the financial burden on farmers and support agricultural productivity.
Support for Youth and Education
Addressing the issue of unemployment, Dr. Kumar announced that over 25,000 posts will be filled by October. Additionally, the government is providing a grant of ₹40,000 to girl students from classes 8 to 12. The Jharkhand Guruji Credit Card Scheme 2024 will offer education loans up to ₹15 lakhs at a 4% interest rate for higher education, applicable to institutions nationwide.
Other Welfare Initiatives
The India Alliance government is also providing 200 units of free electricity per month to households, offering significant relief to the common people.
Dr. Ajay Kumar’s statement underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare and dignity of its citizens through these comprehensive and impactful schemes.
