Chennai – Top Tamil actor Vijay, who leads the Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam, unveiled his political party’s flag at a grand event in Chennai on Thursday. The flag, featuring a maroon and yellow design with two elephants and a flower in between, symbolizes the party’s vision and values.
Flag Details and Symbolism
The flower depicted on the flag is the Gloriosa superb, commonly known as Flame lily or Glory lily, and referred to as Sengantha Malar in Tamil. This flower holds special significance as it is the state flower of Tamil Nadu. Vijay hoisted the flag at the party headquarters after taking an oath at the party office in Panaiyur, Chennai. He also introduced the party’s flag song during the event.
Vijay’s Address to Party Workers
Addressing the gathered party workers, Vijay announced that the party’s ideology would be revealed at their first mega state conclave, which is currently being planned. “Our first mega state conclave is soon going to happen. Preparations are underway. We will soon explain our ideology, our stand, and the reason behind the flag and its components,” Vijay stated.
He emphasized the party’s commitment to the state’s development and the welfare of its people. “Moving forward, we will work for the state, our people, and their development. This is not just a party flag; I see it as a symbol of the future generation of this state,” he added.
Political Aspirations
In February this year, Vijay announced the formation of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam and his intention to contest the 2026 assembly polls in Tamil Nadu. Notably, his party did not align with any political bloc in the recent Lok Sabha elections, where the DMK-led alliance achieved a sweeping victory in the state.
