Hyderabad, 10 June 2025 Today at IIT Hyderabad, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan opened the Global Young Scientists Conference and the Global Young Academy’s Annual General Meeting. The event, which is hosted by IIT Hyderabad in partnership with the Global Young Academy (GYA), Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS), and Indian National Science Academy (INSA).
Addressing 135 international delegates from 60 countries and 65 national delegates, Shri Pradhan emphasized India’s commitment to science that is empathetic, ethical, and equitable. He urged scientists to come together for human-centric development and the Viksit Bharat vision, calling the conference a ray of hope and cooperation. “Science must prioritize partnerships over patents,” he said, aligning with India’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – One Earth, One Family, One Future.
The minister spoke fervently about how India’s international initiatives, such as Mission LIFE and the International Solar Alliance, demonstrate our strong commitment to inclusive and sustainable development. He also congratulated IIT Hyderabad for organizing such a significant event and extended a warm welcome to the 30 new GYA members who joined during the event.
Important topics covered at the conference include Industry 5.0, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Health and Nutrition, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). Through cooperation among up-and-coming scientific leaders, these sessions seek to promote solutions for global issues.
Shri Pradhan also participated in the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative, planting saplings on the IIT Hyderabad campus to promote environmental sustainability. He encouraged students to lead this green movement, underscoring the importance of nurturing nature for a sustainable future. The event underscores India’s growing role as a hub for scientific innovation, bringing together young minds to shape a better world.
