Patna: Bihar police’s senior officer, ADG Pankaj Darad, held a press meet today at the police headquarters in Patna. He shared that this year, Independence Day on August 15 will overlap with Chehallum, and the next day will be Krishna Janmashtami. Keeping these events in mind, the whole state has been put on high alert to avoid any issues. He explained that to keep things calm, local police teams will get help from CRPF and Rapid Action Force units. For Chehallum processions, routes will be fixed by the admin, and playing DJ music will be strictly banned.
Magistrates and police will be posted at sensitive spots in every district. If anyone tries to cause trouble, strong action will be taken right away. The ADG asked everyone to celebrate these festivals peacefully and support each other. During the talk, he also gave numbers on law and order and fighting crime. Under section 126, action was taken against 6 lakh 85 thousand people. In cases of murder, robbery, and looting, 54 thousand 926 criminals were sent to jail. In serious crimes, out of 46 thousand 616 cases, 64 thousand 98 people got punished, including 3 who got death sentence. He talked about the work of the Special Vigilance Unit too. In the last 6 months, they handled 16 cases of officials having more wealth than their income. For example, from Bettiah’s district education officer, they found 3 crore 55 lakh rupees in cash. From the district transport officer and circle officer Prince Raj, fake matric certificates were seized.
From CID DSP Abhay Prasad Yadav and Jehanabad DSP headquarters Sanjeev Kumar, papers for 11 trucks, a hospital, and a big house in Patna were recovered. He added that 7 officials were caught red-handed taking bribes. In some districts, officers changed their mobile numbers because BSNL service was not working well. The ADG said all accused get a full chance to explain their side. This move by Bihar police is a big step to keep peace and safety in the state. People are hoping these festivals pass without any problems.
