Barmer, July 28, 2025: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Barmer Rural Police Station conducted a major operation in Tirsingdi village, recovering 7 quintals 89 kg of poppy husk. The consignment, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore 19 lakh in the market, was found hidden inside a room constructed in a field.
Alongside the seizure, the police confiscated a Scorpio vehicle believed to be linked to the operation. Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena reported that one accused, Nazar Khan, a resident of Tirsingdi village, has been arrested in connection with the case. During initial interrogation, Khan disclosed that the poppy husk was supplied to him just two days prior, for which he received Rs 30,000 to 40,000. The police are now conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the broader network involved in this illegal trade. SP Meena emphasized the commitment of the Barmer Police to curbing drug-related activities in the region, with further inquiries underway to trace the source and distribution channels of the seized consignment.
