Dehradun police from Rani Pokhri police station have arrested two fake babas on the Sangav road leading from Rani Pokhri. The accused allegedly pressured women by threatening them about the death of their husbands and sons, and then cheated them.

The case began on September 12, 2025, when complainant Pradeep Singh filed a written statement at Rani Pokhri police station saying that two unknown men, dressed as saints, had cheated his aunt and grandmother. The fake babas took 3,500 rupees in cash and also stole earrings from the aunt.

Following the complaint, the police registered a case and began searching for the accused. Eventually, the two were arrested. Among the items recovered from them were 2,100 rupees cash, a pair of earrings, and a motorcycle.

This incident highlights how some individuals misuse religious appearances to deceive vulnerable people and earn through unfair means. The police’s quick and effective action in arresting the culprits is commendable and serves as a warning to others involved in similar fraudulent activities.
